If the color settings in the ‘General’ tab are switched to ‘No’ then the printer driver won’t be able to give a print in color.

• In case the ‘Color’ setting in the ‘General’ tab is set to ‘No’ then you are supposed to select the ‘Device setting’ tab. Under ‘Installable options, click on the ‘Automatic Configuration: Off’ which should be by default. Click on the ‘Update Now’ option in order to perform an automatic configuration.

• Just in case HP Universal Printer Driver (UPD) auto-configuration fails (both 5.0 and beyond) then the printer driver will set to default monochrome setting on its own.

You will be required to manually change the print type settings in order to solve this issue. Click on the ‘Device Type: Auto Detect’ under the ‘Device settings’ tab and click on the ‘Color’ option.

• If the ‘Duplex Unit’ option shows up as ‘Not Installed’ then you will be required to change it to ‘Installed’ manually after the process of Automatic Configuration

• Under the feature option, check if the ‘Color: and/or double-sided’ setting is set to ‘Yes’. Select the ‘Print Test Page’ in order to confirm.  Click on the ‘Ok’ option to save your settings.
